External verification involves the conducting of quality assurance audits by the NTA of the NVQ/CVQ provisions in approved training and assessment centres to ensure that they are consistently assessing candidates equally, fairly, and to the national and regional occupational standards. External verification is conducted after internal verification is completed and focuses mainly on the validity of assessment instruments, reliability of assessment decisions, practicability of applying assessment instruments and consistency of the quality of assessment practices within the centre over time.
