The Quality Assurance Coordinator of the Grenada National Training Agency participated in a series of workshops for the development of an online Assessor training programme. The programme is being developed as a CANTA initiative and is supported by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL). Two participants from Grenada worked along with officers from the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago (NTATT) and the Barbados TVET Council to develop and review the online training modules.
The Online Assessor Training Programme includes all of the mandatory units from the occupational standard for Assessment Level 4. Candidates who successfully complete the programme will receive the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) Level 4 in Assessment.
The online programme is currently being piloted with 10-15 participants from each of the countries that were involved in its development – Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Grenada. When fully implemented, this programme will reduce the amount of time candidates will be required to be away from their jobs in order to be trained and certified as Assessors. The pilot started in February 2017 and is expected to be completed by July 2017.
